This week the class started the topic Equations & Expressions mainly with substituting values into an equation, before going onto revising solving equations. This can be found on the MyMaths website under Library – Algebra – Equations (Linear) – Solving Equations, and also Algebra – Expressions & Formulae – Substitution 1 & 2.
When we did work on equations previously, we had used the following website as well (National Library of Virtual Manipulatives) and navigate to Algebra 9-12, followed by Algebra Balance Scales – http://nlvm.usu.edu/en/nav/frames_asid_201_g_4_t_2.html?open=instructions&from=category_g_4_t_2.html
The class had a homework on the MyMaths website (Time & Timetables) with a deadline of Tuesday 29th April for completion.
In two weeks the class will be doing an end of year test on all the topics covered through the course of the year, including the work as part of the Café Project. The topics are – Whole Numbers, Symmetry, Angles, Problem Solving, Decimals, Fractions & Percentages, Equations & Expressions, Perimeter, Area & Volume, Scale Drawing, 2D & 3D Shapes and related properties such as Nets, Surface Area, Time, Timetables & Temperature, Measurement as well as C0-ordinates.
