{"id":633,"date":"2014-02-20T11:06:40","date_gmt":"2014-02-20T11:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.harlawacademy.org\/mathsblog\/?p=633"},"modified":"2014-02-20T11:06:40","modified_gmt":"2014-02-20T11:06:40","slug":"1w2-week-ending-21st-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.harlawacademy.org\/mathsblog\/2014\/02\/20\/1w2-week-ending-21st-february\/","title":{"rendered":"1W2 &#8211; week ending 21st February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week we spent another lesson on the area of a circle which is on the MyMaths website under Library \u2013 Shape \u2013 Area &amp; Perimeter \u2013 Area of Circles.<\/p>\n<p>In continuing the Caf\u00e9 Project the class had some more practical work on constructing models so that they may display their finished caf\u00e9 design using cardboard if they wish (later we will look at skeleton models as well). We also discussed how computer software can enhance a design to best effect. This led to looking at the properties of 2D shapes in particular the rectangle as it is one of the most commonly used shape in numerous building designs.<\/p>\n<p>The groups need to be ready to give their presentations in three weeks on their finished designs for their caf\u00e9s (poster\/powerpoint; models; scale drawings; computer designs and\/or interior\/exterior design and layout).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we spent another lesson on the area of a circle which is on the MyMaths website under Library \u2013 Shape \u2013 Area &amp; Perimeter \u2013 Area of Circles.
