{"id":663,"date":"2014-03-07T07:56:43","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T07:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.harlawacademy.org\/mathsblog\/?p=663"},"modified":"2014-03-07T07:56:43","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T07:56:43","slug":"2a1-week-ending-7th-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.harlawacademy.org\/mathsblog\/2014\/03\/07\/2a1-week-ending-7th-march\/","title":{"rendered":"2A1 &#8211; week ending 7th March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We continued the Finance Project with a look at finance in the news as it occurred such as the effect that the situation in Ukraine might have on gas bills, the rising costs of child-care and how this might affect family finances as well as the effects of bank interest rates over the past 5 years and how this alters how much is added on to savings in an account.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We spent a lesson on calculating Percentage Profit\/Loss, followed by another lesson on compound interest and successive percentage change.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The class should log onto\u00a0the MyMaths website and revise the lessons linked with percentages, in particular compound interest for next week. The percentage work can be found on the MyMaths website under Library \u2013 Number \u2013 Percentages \u2013 Percentage Change 1 &amp; 2 and Change as a Percentage, as well as Number \u2013 Money &amp; Finance \u2013 Simple Interest, Compound Interest and also Depreciation.
