5C2 – week ending 23rd August
This week we completed Chapter 3 – Graphs of Functions which is part of the topic Functions & Graphs and the pupil notes on this topic have been completed up to and including Page 12. As such we have finished Exercise 3P.
Next week we will be starting Chapter 4 – Trigonometric Graphs & Equations. This can also be found on the Mymaths website at – A Level – Core 2 – Trigonometry 1 / 2.
Pupils have been reminded to work from the Essential Skills chapter to recap the Trigonometric work which they are expected to know in order to build on this knowledge at Higher. The Mymaths website is also useful for revising some of the prior knowledge required for this topic – Library – Shape – Trigonometry.

4B4 – week ending 23rd August
This week we started the topic Gradients & Straight Lines and covered Gradients. We will be working through a number of questions in order to gain practice with this next week.
The class have been given a homework on the Mymaths website (Trigonometry – Missing Sides) with a deadline of Thursday 29th August for completion. The work is listed under Library – Shape – Trigonometry. The class made a majority decision on this homework as it was a topic covered in S3 and tends to feature in exams. 1W2 – week ending 23rd August
This week we met one another, and an overview of the year’s work was provided along with expectations and an indication of a rough timescale for assessments. The class have started on the topic Number and are demonstrating each individual’s ability level so that the classwork can be matched to their level. We have been using the New Maths In Action textbooks mainly Book 1-2 but also Book 1-3.
The class have been shown the website that the school has a subscription with (www.mymaths.co.uk) and each pupil has been given a unique login and password along with a letter for their parents. A fairly straightforward homework (Multiplying by 10 & 100) has been issued on the Mymaths website with a deadline of Thursday 29th August for completion. This homework is primarily to enable the pupils to familiarise themselves with how to use this website. The work is listed under Library – Number – Multiply, Divide Mental. Please attempt this well before the deadline, so that you can seek help with any questions that you are stuck with. Remember, help is available from me before school, at lunchtimes and after school.

4A1 Week ending 23rd Aug
Mr MacFadyen’s class 4A1 have been issued with Trigonometry homework on the mymaths website, to be completed by Tuesday 27th Aug. The homework is aimed at revising for an upcoming assessment.

5B1 – 5th July
Mrs Lawrence’s Higher class have started Sets and Functions. We have done Ex 5A, 5B and 5C.

2A1 – week ending 5th July
Class 2A1 (taught in June by Mr Sullivan) covered work on Integers and other basic number work using the mnemonic BOMDAS (with two homeworks on this issued on the Mymaths website).
The class then moved on to the topic of Triangles & Quadrilaterals with additional work on Angles (Alternate, Corresponding and Vertically Opposite) as well as Areas of quadrilaterals also included. The class have been directed to the Mymaths website for extra work to re-inforce the work covered in class.
The class has been instructed to learn the formulae for the various areas of quadrilaterals, and to remember the definitions of the different types of triangles and quadrilaterals.
